To become an Air Traffic Controller, you need a “fin d’études secondaires” diploma or an equivalent qualification. Information on job vacancies can be found on the government’s homepage.
To apply as a “fonctionnaire de l’Etat,” you must either pass a classification exam or apply as an “employé de l’Etat.” In either case, you will need to pass the FEAST test and a medical exam.
Proficiency in Luxembourgish is required for the position of Air Traffic Tower Controller, but this is not necessary for the role of Approach Controller.
After passing these requirements, you’ll begin training at Fintraffic in Helsinki, where you will gain both theoretical and practical skills needed for your on-the-job training in Luxembourg. The training in Helsinki lasts 12-16 months, with accommodation and a salary provided during this period.
Upon returning to Luxembourg, you’ll complete an on-the-job training period, which will take approximately 18 months.
