Air Traffic Control Simulator – Luxembourg Tower Game

Play a free browser-based ATC tower game at Luxembourg Airport (ELLX) · IFR arrivals, departures and ground movement · Runway 06

Take control of Luxembourg Tower. Manage arrivals, departures and ground traffic at Luxembourg Airport (ELLX) in a 25-minute challenge. Keep operations safe and expeditious to achieve the highest score.

About the Simulator

This is a game, not a fully realistic air traffic control simulation. While inspired by actual operations at Luxembourg Airport (ELLX), the gameplay has been simplified and is considerably more forgiving than real-world ATC. The aim is to give players a fun glimpse into the traffic and challenges handled by Luxembourg Tower.

For simplicity, several aspects of airport operations have been omitted, including helicopters, VFR traffic, aircraft towing and other vehicles operating on the manoeuvring area. The southern side of the airport, including aprons P8 and P9, has also been left out, along with the frequent runway crossings required to access it.

In short: A simplified taste of Luxembourg Tower operations — without the pressure or complexity of the real thing!

Best played on desktop. Mobile play is supported, but a smaller screen limits visibility.

📖 HOW TO PLAY — Instructions & ScoringVIEW GUIDE ▾

Your mission: Manage arrivals, departures and ground traffic at Luxembourg Airport (ELLX) safely and expeditiously within 25 minutes.

Game display & controls: The upper display shows aircraft approaching on final for Runway 06. Below it is the airport ground layout, with Runway 06 in use, where you manage departures, arrivals after landing and taxiing aircraft. Amber aircraft labels indicate aircraft requiring your attention. Click or tap an amber label to open the instruction menu and select the clearance or action you want to issue.

Arrivals: Clear aircraft to land when Runway 06 is available. After touchdown, instruct them to vacate and taxi to their assigned apron.

Departures: Clear aircraft to taxi to an allowed holding point (B4, G or F), line up and issue take-off clearance when runway and separation permit. Aircraft in the same taxiway queue advance automatically as the positions ahead become clear.

Wake turbulence: Aircraft labels show Heavy (H), Medium (M) or Light (L). Medium behind Heavy, or Light behind Medium or Heavy, requires 2 minutes; 3 minutes if the following aircraft departs farther down the runway than the preceding aircraft. Early take-off clearance costs 50 points. Normal departure spacing additionally requires the preceding aircraft to pass the far runway threshold (RWY 24) plus 5 seconds.

Apron traffic: Several aircraft may wait on the same apron. Allow approximately 10 seconds between departing aircraft and do not clear another aircraft while the shared exit lane is blocked. The exit lane is also the inbound lane: wait until an incoming aircraft has entered its apron and disappeared from the display. Once it disappears, it is parked and the lane is clear for another departure.

Scoring: Touchdown +50; departure airborne +50; first successful taxi clearance for each departure +10; arriving aircraft reaching its assigned apron +10; controller-issued GO AROUND −50; operational warning or rejected clearance −50 (except issuing a second taxi clearance from the same apron too soon −10); STOP IMMEDIATELY on runway −50; STOP on taxiway free; collision or runway conflict ending the game −500. Normal queuing is not penalised.

Game duration & leaderboard: The game ends after 25 minutes, or you can finish earlier with END GAME without penalty. Submit your name and score to the global leaderboard. Rankings use the highest score in a single game, with Aircraft Handled as tiebreaker.

You have 25 minutes to handle as many aircraft as possible. Maintain safety, avoid unnecessary delays, and maximise your score.
